Dear Coal Creek Camp DUP Daughters,
We hope your summer was a pleasant one and as it comes to a close it is time to begin our Fall DUP Camp meetings. The first meeting is Monday September 10th at 2 pm in the 2nd, 9th, 17th Ward Church (256 South 900 West) in the Relief Society room. Please plan to attend this meeting to pick up your DUP Booklet for the 2012-2013 year. We will also serve refreshments at the close of the meeting.
Please bring your yearly dues which will be $18.00. $10.00 is for internationals dues, $2.00 is for Iron County and the remainder is kept in Coal Creek Camp to be used for camp supplies and activities. Please place dues in an envelope with the completed form included at the end of this letter and put your name on front of envelope. If you wish, you may send dues and the completed form, to Lorraine Palmer 409 South 1840 West, Cedar City, Utah 84720. Thanks for your help in this matter.
Other items of Business are:
1. DUP Foundation Scholarship applications are due by November 1, 2012. The $500.00 scholarship is available to daughters and granddaughters of DUP members planning to attend Southern Utah State University in Cedar City, Utah. Requirements are listed on the application. Betty Jo Dunnell will accept scholarship applications at 372 N. 800 West, Cedar City, Utah 84720. Please contact Aliene Overly (435-590-1091) to get an application form. The Scholarships will be awarded at the annual Christmas DUP Luncheon in December. This is a wonderful opportunity for our girls.
2. Please sign up to serve as a museum docent. We are in great need of docents to help at the museum, LaKay Weber will provide docent training, and you may contact her at 586-1981. The efforts of the DUP docents are greatly appreciated by the DUP Foundation Board. You may also contact Coal Creek Camp docent chairman Marie Johnson at 691-1981. She has faithfully filled the busy summer month’s schedule of Museum service. During the winter the museum hours are 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. We wish to thank Marie for faithfully arranging the schedule for the summer months and for the winter months that follow.
3. International DUP Convention to be held September 29th at the Davis Conference Center in Layton, Utah. The keynote speaker will be the director of the movie 17 Miracles, T.C. Christensen. All are invited to attend. There will be a $15.00 fee for luncheon. If you are interested in attending, please contact Darlene: 867-6007.
We are excited to begin another DUP season; there will be new lessons and new faces. The meetings continue to be on the 2nd Monday of each month, except for December which will be the annual DUP area Christmas dinner held Saturday the 8th of December. It will be nice to see everyone as we begin our 2012-2013 DUP year.
